How it works
MLD uses slow, rhythmic, and precise movements to encourage the flow of lymph fluid through the body. By gently stretching the skin and stimulating lymph vessels, MLD helps reduce swelling, support immune function, improve circulation, and promote deep relaxation.
Benefits of MLD
Research and clinical practice show MLD may help with:
- Lymphedema – swelling following surgery, radiotherapy, or injury
- Post-surgical recovery – reducing bruising, swelling, and scar formation
- Injury recovery – supporting healing after sprains, muscle tears, and fractures
- Chronic conditions – such as arthritis, fibromyalgia, and sinus congestion
- Digestive support – gentle stimulation for constipation or bloating
- Wellbeing – relieving stress, aiding relaxation, and supporting detoxification, rosacea, acne.
What to expect
A session typically lasts 30–60 minutes and is tailored to your individual needs. Treatment always begins by clearing the main lymphatic pathways in the neck before moving to the affected areas of the body. MLD is deeply soothing, pain-free, and performed without oils (except where necessary).
How do I know if my lymphatic system is clogged or sluggish?
When the lymphatic system is under strain, it can show up in different ways.
Medical signs of lymphedema include:
- Swelling of part or all of the arm or leg (including fingers or toes)
- A feeling of heaviness or tightness
- Restricted range of motion
- Recurring infections
- Hardening and thickening of the skin (fibrosis)
Earlier, more subtle warning signs can include:
- Puffy ankles, fingers, or eyelids (especially at the end of the day)
- Feeling bloated or “water-logged”
- Persistent fatigue or heaviness in the body
- Slow healing of cuts or bruises
- Getting colds or infections more easily
- Skin feeling tight or achy, with clothes/rings leaving deeper marks than usual
If you notice any of these signs, MLD may help support your lymphatic system and bring relief.
