Why InForm Pilates?

Move Better, Feel Stronger, Live Well

Whether you want to build strength, improve posture and mobility, recover from injury, reduce stiffness or feel more comfortable in your body, our classes provide purposeful movement that supports everyday life.

At InForm Pilates Kenmare, we combine evidence-informed movement with supportive teaching and individual attention. Our instructors share the same teaching philosophy, providing consistent, high-quality guidance while adapting exercises to suit the people in front of them.

Our aim is simple: to help you move well, build lasting strength and continue enjoying an active life.

Choose how you Move

Whether you enjoy the support and resistance of the Reformer or the simplicity and flow of Mat Pilates, both offer effective ways to build strength, improve mobility and develop greater confidence in how your body moves.

What is Reformer Pilates?

Strength, mobility and control supported by the Reformer.

The Reformer is a spring-based Pilates machine that supports and challenges the body through smooth, controlled movement. It can help you build strength, improve mobility and posture, increase body awareness and enjoy exercise that is low-impact yet highly effective.

The adjustable springs allow exercises to be progressed or adapted to suit different needs and abilities. This makes Reformer Pilates suitable for beginners, active adults, older adults, athletes and those returning to movement after injury.

Mat Pilates uses body weight, small equipment and controlled movement to develop core strength, mobility, balance and awareness. Our mat classes are progressive and adaptable for a wide range of abilities , from beginners to experienced participants.

What Is Mat Pilates?

Strength, control and flowing movement using your own body as resistance.

Mat Pilates uses body weight, small equipment and controlled movement to develop core strength, mobility, balance and body awareness. It creates a strong foundation for everyday movement and can be both accessible and surprisingly challenging.

Our Mat Pilates classes are progressive and adaptable, welcoming everyone from complete beginners to experienced participants.

FAQ’s

Which Class Is Right for Me?

We offer Reformer, Mat, Chair, Pregnancy and Active Ageing Pilates. The best class for you will depend on your experience, goals and current movement needs. If you are unsure where to begin, contact us and we will be happy to guide you towards the most suitable option.

Do I Need Any Pilates Experience?

No. Complete beginners are very welcome, and you do not need to be fit or flexible before starting. Our instructors will guide you through the exercises and help you work at a level that feels appropriate for you.

Is Pilates Very Difficult?

Our classes are designed to challenge you because building strength requires your muscles to work. However, the exercises should always feel controlled and achievable.

We use progressive resistance and whole-body movement to develop strength, mobility and balance. Our instructors provide different resistance options and adaptations, allowing you to work at an appropriate level and progress as your strength and confidence improve.

Physical activity guidelines recommend that adults complete:

  • 150 to 300 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic activity each week
  • Strengthening exercises involving all major muscle groups on at least two days each week

Adults aged 65 and over are also encouraged to include activities that develop strength and balance on at least three days each week.

Our Pilates classes are designed to build strength and balance. Many classes can also provide moderate-intensity activity, where your heart rate and breathing increase but you can still hold a conversation, helping you work towards several parts of the weekly physical activity guidelines.

What Is the Difference Between Mat and Reformer Pilates?
Mat Pilates uses your body weight and small equipment to develop strength, control, mobility and balance. Reformer Pilates uses adjustable spring resistance to support or challenge your movement.

Both provide effective, progressive whole-body exercise. Some people prefer one style, while others enjoy combining both as part of their weekly routine.

Can I Attend if I Have an Injury or Health Condition?

Many exercises can be adapted around injuries, aches and mobility limitations. Please let us know about any relevant injury, surgery or health condition before attending your first class.

Depending on your needs, we may recommend a particular class, an individual assessment or medical clearance before you begin.

Is Pilates Suitable for Older Adults or People With Limited Mobility?

Yes. We offer both Active Ageing Reformer and Chair Pilates classes for older adults and people who may benefit from additional support.

Our Active Ageing Reformer class is taught at a more considered pace, with exercises adapted to each person’s ability, confidence and mobility. Chair Pilates offers an accessible alternative for those who prefer seated and supported exercises or who may find getting on and off the floor or Reformer difficult.

Both classes focus on developing strength, balance and mobility to support confidence and independence in everyday life. If you are unsure which class is right for you, please contact us and we will be happy to guide you.Can I Attend Pilates During Pregnancy?

Yes. Our Pregnancy Pilates classes are specifically designed to support safe, appropriate movement and strength throughout pregnancy.

Please let your instructor know how many weeks pregnant you are and about any symptoms, complications or medical advice that may affect your participation. If you are unsure whether exercise is appropriate for you, please speak with your healthcare provider before attending.

How Often Should I Attend?

One class per week is a positive and realistic place to begin. Attending two or more times per week provides more opportunities to build strength, improve movement and work towards the weekly physical activity guidelines.

The best routine is one that suits your goals, experience and schedule and that you can maintain consistently.

What Should I Wear and Bring?

Wear comfortable, close-fitting clothing that allows you to move freely and enables your instructor to observe your alignment.

Grippy socks are required for Reformer classes and are available to purchase at the studio. Please also bring water.

How Long Are the Classes?

Our classes are 50 minutes long. Please arrive a few minutes early, particularly for your first class, so you have time to settle in and let your instructor know about anything relevant before the class begins.

What Is Your Cancellation Policy?

If you need to cancel a class, please do so at least eight hours before it begins. Cancellations made within eight hours will result in the class being deducted from your class pass or membership.
